It s been a long time since I've posted here. I've heard this beautiful composition by Rahman sometimes back and wanted to give it a shot. It turned out to be very difficult for me to play. It has got a lot of detailing and I am able to cover just a few. :(. As usual pardon me for the pitching issues and the poor audio quality.



Also I played the BGM version of it and added echo, changed pitch and spoiled it to maximum extent. bear with this too. :p :p

The last three days have been horrible for me. I’m on a vacation doing nothing except sleeping, eating and listening to my favorite tunes. My lil bro is on vacation too. I’ve always been a big fan of his voice. I wanted him to sing this song which is very close to my heart. He spent a day for me to record this song in his voice. Also it is a tamil-hindi mix version as per my request (once again :)). I hope you guys will pardon him for his poor Hindi diction. I’m so happy that I was sitting next to him when he recorded this and constantly pestering him with some stupid suggestions :p as I always do. Enough of ramblings, here is the cover.

My violin will go on....!!

Before I begin, lemme tell ya one thing. I really didn't wanna try this song. There are many reasons for it.

This is one song which is very close to my heart and I knew I can't do justice to it.

Secondly it is purely western and I've absolutely no idea about it.

Well, I couldn't resist myself , and here is it..

P.S wen you do a carnatic_cast <raga *> ("my heart will go on")
will become "shankarabharanam" :D :p

Roja jane mann..

The response I got for the first post motivated me to go one step further. I am gonna stick to AR Rahman's composition. The first song which comes to my mind is kaadhal rojave from the movie Roja, which is his first tamil album too. The same song has the lyrics "Roja jane man...." in its hindi version. This song is sung by S.P Balasubramaniam. God, I love his voice. divine.. who won a national award for this song.

The song starts with the raaga "Desh". Desh is a kinda hindustani raaga (Is it so? ) which has been widely used in cine industry. My favorite in desh is "vande maataram" by ARR.

Coming to "roja jane mann", the entire song is based on "kaapi". You should be humming "Enna thavam seidhanai , eshodha.." by this time. Once again a very very beautiful composition by the legend.

Here is my cover. This time a slightly better karaoke and as usual poor mixing.

Kadhal rojave violin cover | Music Upload

Once again Here begins a musical journey..!!

It s been 4 years since I played my violin. I still remember the last concert I performed wen I was in higher secondary. Y didn't I continue ? well,I've no answers.

After a long break, I took my violin once again. No surprise, I lost my fingering, speed and bowing. Indeed it is very difficult to come back and painful too. I am still on it. What is goin on here ? This blog looks like a damn autobiography.!!

The Blog title says it all. Hamsadhwani is my all time favorite raaga. It is completely packed with joy, energy, beauty and what not ? I am not gonna upload any carnatic songs as most people out here are sick of it. I jus wanted to get started with an easy song based on hamsadhwani. In the end, I picked up a blinder. "vellai pookkal" by the Academy award winner AR Rahman.

This tamil song won a national award for its beautiful composition. Hmm.. Wot s so special about this song ? It is based on hamsadhwani but contains a lot of "anya swaras"(notes outside the raaga definition) like a note between D and E flat, F sharp and A which sweetened the song, making it really hard for me to identify the notes at some parts of the song.

Anyways , its my first attempt after a long time and my song cover has got a lot of glitches. In addition, the mixing is not proper and karaoke is bad. I've not done justice to the original composition. Hope you guys will pardon me.
